"IMAGES OF THE WEST"
The Gallery at Pikes Peak
Pikes Peak Regional Hospital
16420 West Highway 24
Woodland Park, CO
On Display through May 31, 2013
The Gallery at Pikes Peak is now featuring a very unique show with the work of three local artists displaying Native American and western art in the hospital lobby and gift shop.
Jon Zimmer, also known as ‘Walks Alone with Many Friends' is a Native American of Ojibwa/Chippewa descent. He is an Ojibwa Holy Man and has performed numerous ceremonies and blessings, including blessing the Pikes Peak Regional Hospital on opening day. His extraordinary art is displayed on the first wall as you enter the hospital lobby. Jon also has many pieces of unique pottery on display in the gift shop.
Michael Slancik, is a lifelong resident of Cripple Creek. His experiences as an avid outdoorsman and naturalist enabled him to duplicate nature in art form. Michael is a self taught artist, who spent over 30 years refining his sculpting abilities in bronze. He has recently changed his artistic medium to oil painting. The same eye for detail that Michael was renowned for in his sculptures is present in each painting.
Dixie Clare was influenced towards art at an early age by her great aunt, a portrait painter from Hungry. She has a special talent for western themes. Dixie's drawings and paintings have been presented in several shows and galleries. She is featuring several of her original pieces. Don't forget to view her fabulous "Pair of Paints" next to the children's room in the lobby.
